For my careers class we have to do presentations on a career, I chose photographer.
What would be an interesting activity I could do with my class?
I only have about 10 minutes for the whole presentation.

Assuming you have the equipment, spend 5 minutes on how you train, how much you make, what kinds there are, the advantages and disadvantages of the career, then 5 minutes of demonstration. Take two pictures of the same volunteer from the audience, one good, one bad. Put your memory card into something that will project it so everyone can see it, and tell them why the bad one is bad and the good one is good.
If that’s too elaborate for the 5 minutes, bring in two pictures of the same subject. I’d choose a young child as a subject, because my pet peeve is people who are too lazy to squat when they take pictures of their kids. Take the bad one one from your eye level, in landscape mode. Move in a bit, squat and take the good one at the child’s eye level, in portrait mode. Try to keep everything else – background, expression, light – as close to the same as possible. Make each one fill the frame.
If you can project them, fine; if not, print each one 8×10 and hold them up.
You should make a camera cake and feed it to them.
Then save some for me.
