What is the name of the older photographer who created Photoshop-like images without Photoshop?

I am trying to find the name/artwork of a photographer who manipulated multiple images and put them all in one picture. For example, in one of his photos it looks like cars are driving on a freeway directly through a giant tree. Another one is of a large river running through the middle of the streets in a big city. Any ideas, please let me know!

Don’t know if this is the one you are thinking of, but the long time best of combined pre digital imagery is Jerry Uelsmann.
Long before Photoshop or digital, he was creating images that I can’t begin to say enough positive about.
Check him out.
Salvador Dali
Ansel Adams did photos that appeared to be photoshopped, but weren’t.
But I’m not sure if he’s the exact photographer you are looking for.
It’s Jerry Uelsmann, he was doing combinations of photos long before photoshop was thought about.
Uelsmann …
