I am an amateur photographer looking to get some experience with portraits and build a portfolio. Do you know of any organizations that I might be able to volunteer with?

I have my first photography interview with a company specializing in baby and preschool children portraits. I always get a bit nervous at interviews when they want me to ask questions, I freeze up and never know what to say. I really want to be prepared and make a great impression so I need some help coming up with questions to ask them during the interview. Thanks!

I’m about to open up my own photography studio and I need a catchy and original name for it. I will be photographing everything and anything.. portraits, weddings, engagements, maternity shots, children, babies, etc. I need it to be something that is going to stick in people’s minds and stand out from the usual. Any ideas are appreciated!

what are the advantages of using special photography lights with strobes which sync with flash (like 23) for shooting over using simple video lights like baby and multi for shooting stills? I want to shoot portraits and renting out video lights is cheaper than photography lights.
Yes I do mean continuous lights when I say video lights. And I want to shoot portraits.

The photographer used black and white images and they were mostly portraits of ordinary people. Is it even possible to find out who exhibited several years ago?

I am looking to start a portrait studio. I will be taking pictures of families and children/babies. Maybe even senior pictures. I have a 8mp SLR Canon Digital Rebel XT. Is this good enough to start out with? Also, I read that the Tamron 90mm macro lens is good for portraits. Is this true and what other lens will I need? Will I need the following things and if so what kind do you recommend: studio lamps/lights, bounce cards, light reader/meter? Is there anything I’m leaving out? As for backdrops. I’m thinking of having my white background be the kind where the wall curves as it meets the floor..is there a certain name for this? Should I also get a backdrop system for muslins? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

If someone wants headshots and portraits and other promotional photographs for advertising how much does a photographer charge. Please don’t give me"it depends" as an answer

I’m a young photographer. I have a Nikon D60, a flash, a 55-200mm lens and am getting some collapsible reflectors. I have a real gift for the art, and know how to get professional looking photos. I have never done work for money, but thought about sending a news letter out to let people know that I’m available to do portraits.
How much should I charge and on what basis, hour, prints or both?
Thanks.
