I want to start taking up photography because i noticed there aren’t really alot of reasonable photographers in my area. I want to do things like senior pictures, wedding photography, prom and special event, family and baby, photography like that of people. I live by the water, so im sure the beach will be the site of alot of my photographs. What is the best type of camera i should look for? Where might i get one for a reasonable price?

My daughter is wanting to get herself into extreme debt to get a degree from the Art Institute in Utah. She has already had a TON of success on her own as a photographer, but feels that this degree is necessary to pursue her career. Please provide any information that will help her understand the Pro’s and Con’s of taking out this type of student loan (30K per year/3 yr degree). And provide any information you have about the success rate of photographers after receiving this type of degree.

I am going to be doing a class project where I emulate a famous photographer. I am having a hard time picking someone. It is not due for quite some time but I want to decide on one and then really study the work!
I enjoy shooting people more than anything else. Still life and landscape next.

Is this something that photographers are annoyed by? I would think not many would want someone getting in their way while they are trying to work.

My friend is just starting out as a freelance photographer for weddings and other events. When accepting payments from clients, should he be asking for a 1099 along with their checks? Or is there some other way freelance photographers keep track of their income for when it’s time to file their taxes with the IRS?
