I know some models get to test with the senior photographer on the staff (of the agency) but what about everyone else? How do photographers get in to work with an agency or how are they able to test with models that belong to an agency (with out having to fork over the money to work with a professional model)

We found this photography school in DC that has a one year program for a certificate. It is about 00. My wife has a little bit of a background in photography and never finished college and is having a baby soon.
Would the certificate be helpful in her having a career doing portraits, weddings etc. or should she just take some classes and not do the program. We are thinking a four year degree isn’t really an option at this point which is why the one year of night classes sounded appealing.
Please help! We want to know of anybody who went to a photography school and got a certificate or any photographers advice.

How much should we be spending on a wedding photographer??? We have an overall budget of about £12000. We’d love some really beautiful, classy keepsakes of our big day but are unsure of what sort of price is right and also do photographers have to be qualified or can anybody just do it? How do we know if they’re any good??? Thanks!

I am planning a wedding and looking for a photographer, have even met with some, but still cant decide if I should be looking at some big studios suggested by Davids Bridal, or go with some private small studios with one or two photographers? What is your experience people? Whats better?

I was just reading about some photographers like Diane Arbus who didn’t even know about stuff like exposure, apeture, and f-stops. Do you think it is a good investment of time for an aspiring photographer to read the technical books on photography? Or do you think it’s better to just get out there and shoot?

How does a photographer protect the rights to their photograph? Do they copyright it or is there a process to proving rights?
When selling rights how to photographers do it? Do they charge just for one use, for ownership of the pics, for rights to use but they don’t own the pic, how does it work?
