My go-to gifts used to be baby books and gift certificates to a good photography shop with a nice picture frame, as everyone takes loads of pictures of their new baby.
But now that photography has gone digital, is that still a good gift?
What was your best baby gift?

I walk their dogs. So it’s a farily intimate relationship, as you have keys to their house and sometimes diagnose their dogs with health issues. This particular client went to Europe for a month and their dog had a rip-roaring gum infection that I diagnosed and got treated while they were away. Pet Sitting is strange, because it’s weirdly intimate in ways that some other service jobs are not. If that’s any help here.
Re: Announcement: I just got an email that they adopted their 3 week old bouncing boy yesterday! I get the feeling they have been trying for a long time and it just all came together this week. No formal announcements have been sent out yet.

She has a Pentax DSLR camera – what I’m really wondering is, what are the specs of the lenses she’ll need to get started, and what are the specs of the flashes she’ll need. Not wanting to go full-time, just wants to make a little extra money as she’s home with our new baby daughter.

I want to make two photo books for my new baby. The first will be from birth to six months and then the second will be six months to one year. On the first one I’ll have her full name and then will call it "The first six months" July 2008 – January 2009…. but what should I call the second book? "The second six months doesn’t sound good, lol" Thanks for your help

Would a photography package be a good idea for a gift for a new baby?
My fiances brother and sister in law are due any day now for their first baby. For the baby shower, I purchased items off the registry but I also have been wanting to give them another gift when the baby arrives. I purchased three little outfits but I was also considering buying a photography package from a local photographer whose work is just fabulous. Is this a tacky or rude gift? I’m sure that at some point they will want to have photographs taken of the baby within the first few months… I want to give them something that they will be able to treasure and always have… The photographer did my engagement pictures and is wonderful and easy to work with… but I’m worried it could be viewed as shrewd to pick out the photographer and everything… I purchased photography sessions as a family Christmas present a few years ago and everyone loved the idea… For moms to be or moms in general, would this be an accepted gift?
Everything has already been purchased of their registry. They have been VERY blessed to have wonderful people around them… As I stated, I purchased three outfits that they will be getting when the baby arrives… They aren’t newborn sizes either–they are for the winter… I spent well over 0 for the registry gifts alone

For the person that I said "I am up to something"… What in the lords name are you talking about? I am trying to give them a GIFT of a photography session so THEY can have proffesional photographs taken of their child. It is very common to have pictures of your infants taken (my parents did it 20 some years ago) and all my friends with babies have done it too. I’m not trying to "make a buck" off a baby… I’m trying to give them a GIFT. Dear lord!

My close friend had a baby, her 2nd, a girl. She has a 2 yr old girl. She lives very far away. I’ll be seeing the baby only after 6-9 months from now. She has all stuff, clothes that babies need.
I thought of getting her a digital photo frame (where digital pix come at random,and it also plays music). Would this be a suitable gift? She loves scrapbooking, and takes lot of pictures of her kid.
Since she will be busy for a while, I thought a digital photo frame would be a good gift so she can display photos of baby, older girl and others with some nice music in the background.
She also has a fairly big, new house, so this gift would be useful even if she has one already. Also, easy for me to order it online and delivered to her address.
So, is it a thoughtful gift or not very suitable for a "new baby" occasion?
