I am looking to start a portrait studio. I will be taking pictures of families and children/babies. Maybe even senior pictures. I have a 8mp SLR Canon Digital Rebel XT. Is this good enough to start out with? Also, I read that the Tamron 90mm macro lens is good for portraits. Is this true and what other lens will I need? Will I need the following things and if so what kind do you recommend: studio lamps/lights, bounce cards, light reader/meter? Is there anything I’m leaving out? As for backdrops. I’m thinking of having my white background be the kind where the wall curves as it meets the floor..is there a certain name for this? Should I also get a backdrop system for muslins? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

In the labor room? I mean do you prefer to have your babies first moment’s photo to see and show for many years… I found a website www.pelinyucesoy.com but I don’t know if they do this in another country? can you please help me if you are living in different places?

I entered my daughter’s photo in the Great American Baby Photo contest and a few days later I got an email stating that her photo had been chosen to be put in the "Most Beautiful Babies in America" book. They wanted me to buy a copy and I entered all of my credit card information and then when I clicked on "Reserve My Copy Now" it asked me to login to my account to verify the photo then said that "We’re sorry…no photo from this account has been selected for the book." I need a way to contact them because I do not want my card to be charged for this scam. Please help?!?!

I wouldn’t normally ask for something like this, but all these people who have pictures on here have a facebook and are sending it to everyone and so their babies are getting 100′s of votes. I don’t do the social networking scene so all I have voting is me. Thank you to anyone who does.

I have got a new digital SLR. I’m looking for something like "digital photography for dummy" but not too dummy (I’ve taken lots of pictures with consumer digital camera for a few years). I’m especially interested in learning taking better pictures with kids and babies.

Does anyone know where I can find baby photo contests that are legit and not looking for .. you know, "modeling" babies?
Money is fine, but college scholarships are preferred. Anything else is cool too..

I have a photography studio, with the posing stools and all, but do not have the equipment to do babies, but a customer wants her 5month old grandson to have his picture made for Easter with a bunny or dog or something. What kind of kiddie-chairs or posers could I use? I made the suggestion of getting a car seat and putting a nice baby blanket over it, but my husband said that was tacky. 
Any suggestions??

Would a photography package be a good idea for a gift for a new baby?
My fiances brother and sister in law are due any day now for their first baby. For the baby shower, I purchased items off the registry but I also have been wanting to give them another gift when the baby arrives. I purchased three little outfits but I was also considering buying a photography package from a local photographer whose work is just fabulous. Is this a tacky or rude gift? I’m sure that at some point they will want to have photographs taken of the baby within the first few months… I want to give them something that they will be able to treasure and always have… The photographer did my engagement pictures and is wonderful and easy to work with… but I’m worried it could be viewed as shrewd to pick out the photographer and everything… I purchased photography sessions as a family Christmas present a few years ago and everyone loved the idea… For moms to be or moms in general, would this be an accepted gift?
Everything has already been purchased of their registry. They have been VERY blessed to have wonderful people around them… As I stated, I purchased three outfits that they will be getting when the baby arrives… They aren’t newborn sizes either–they are for the winter… I spent well over 0 for the registry gifts alone I just thought a photography package would be nice…
For the person that I said "I am up to something"… What in the lords name are you talking about? I am trying to give them a GIFT of a photography session so THEY can have proffesional photographs taken of their child. It is very common to have pictures of your infants taken (my parents did it 20 some years ago) and all my friends with babies have done it too. I’m not trying to "make a buck" off a baby… I’m trying to give them a GIFT. Dear lord!
