I am interested in portrait photography (familes, children, babies, seniors, engagements and so on) but at this point in my life, I cannot have a studio so Im going to work on my outdoor photography. Could someone give me a list of the basic equipment I would need to do this. Also, I will not have an assistant at any time so I would need everything to be "owner operated" you know..something I could set up myself with no assistance from someone having to hold something for me to do the shoot. I already have a camera, tripod and a portrait lens. But im interested in lighting, etc.. Thanks in advance.!!

REASON FOR NO ASSISTANTS: I live ten hours from any family of friends. Dont know anyone that could help out and I have 2 small children that will be with my husband while Im working.

I’m trying to start my photography business legally and I haven’t came up with a catchy name yet. I had some ideas in mind but when I looked them up they were already taken. I want something simple and a name that has meaning.
I don’t want to use my name in any part since my name is often mispelled and very long.
I’m trying to find something like ___ Photography (either 1 or 2 words, then Photography)
I want to have some type of meaning like a friend of mine did — hers is Epic which she named because of the meaning "beyond the ordinary".
Thanks!
P.S. This would be a name for EVERY type of photography… children, families, babies, maternity, seniors, weddings… etc.
AND… NO SMART REMARKS! I’M LOOKING FOR SERIOUS ANSWERS. IF YOU DONT HAVE A NICE SUGGESTION THEN KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!

My son is almost 7 months old and he is super cute. I am considering getting him into modeling, but I don’t really know how. I looked on-line and all I found were baby photo contests (boooo), and junk websites, just trying to get your money or information so they can spam you (another booo). I even searched for modeling agencies that represent babies. No luck. If anyone has had their baby in modeling and knows who to speak to, please give me some names, numbers, websites, etc.
p.s. and please don’t trash me for wanting my baby in modeling. I don’t intend to turn him into some trained seal. When he gets to be the age where it becomes "work" we are out! But for right now, all he would have to do for ads is just be himself and that is all I want him to have to do.

AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II (3.0x)
and
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR (3.0x)
I’m new to the world of lenses, and I’m purchasing one next week. I want a VR lens, and I can see one has it and the other doesn’t, but I guess what I dont understand is if that is the only difference between the two. I’m using the lens mostly for children photography (babies), nature, and close ups. Which do you thing would be better for what I will be using it for? Also, I’m purchasing the Nikon D60 from bestbuy, and it comes with a lens – but I’m a little confused at what lens it comes with because it says both zoom and VR in the title of it.. and it’s my understanding that those are two different lenses. Here is the link to the item, if you can help me understand what it is they are offering as a lens with that package, and the difference between the two – that’d be great help! Thanks!

I’m about to open up my own photography studio and I need a catchy and original name for it. I will be photographing everything and anything.. portraits, weddings, engagements, maternity shots, children, babies, etc. I need it to be something that is going to stick in people’s minds and stand out from the usual. Any ideas are appreciated!

I shoot senior photos, babies/children, family and event photography.
My first choice is Pink Elephant Photography?? and there isn’t one of those near me.
Second choice maybe L2 Photography because my first and last name begin with L, although i could become married- i’m in a 7 year relationship? would that matter?

Why? I like looking at photos of myself and my friends and relatives as children/babies and I don’t get embarrassed by them. Why does it happen to people?
