I am purchasing a digital camera soon, one that is of the cheaper point & shoot variety with maybe some extra features that let me adjust photos more to my liking. I also have an SLR camera (not digital) that I found in my house that I’d like to start using as well. What’s a good book that covers the basics of photography (applicable to digital and non digital) and also maybe gives advice on the artistry of photography?

I want to become a photographer for either a music magazine (AP, AMP, Rolling Stone, Blender) and/or a classic car (Rod and Custom, etc.) magazine. How do I get into that field? Do I need a special degree or certificate? Are internships available?

I have been told that Adobe Photo shop is the way to go but I really would like some input before I drop all that cash. I am looking into Portrait and nature photography. I would like to use one program only and I want to be able to do all sorts of things, for instance, adding hints of color to B&W images, changing filters etc… Any input would be helpful. If anyone has used Adobe tips would be welcomed too! Thank you so much.

I entered my baby in the contest, but then it asked for my phone number and said something about .99 a month, so i passed. Well evidently it entered him anyways & i just received an email saying judges loved his picture and they think hes got a shot at a ,000 modeling contract, then it took me to enter him in that contest & it costs .99. Is this real?

I’m soon to be doing wedding photography as a business, and I was wondering what aspects of your wedding photographer that you liked/disliked. Any other comments & suggestions would be appreciated too.

I can’t believe the number of photography courses which still want you to shoot black and white film and develop it yourself.
I have no objection to b&w and all it entails but time should be spent on composition and exposure, not mixing chemicals.
Digital, with its instant feedback and dirt cheap cost-per-shot, is the all-time killer photography teaching tool.
Why would educators not see this?

I work at a portrait studio now and have been in photography for the last 8 years, part of me wants to go to school and learn enough about photography and how to run a small business. The other part is worried that photography is a dying business with so many people doing their own photography with digital cameras & photoshop. Is it worth all that school ,money & time?
