I want to be a photographer when I get older, and I need a job really bad, do you think I could be a photographer anywhere at the age of 16?

As far as the schooling I don’t feel it is critical in all cases. You are dealing with two items your eye and the camera’s eye. Most top photographers I know off hand have had no training whats so ever. Not saying school is bad but making a point. There are tons of lectures and training courses you can attend now. There is one really good org which requires membership fee that may come in value and is not age restrictive. The lectures and or school can teach you basic and involved workings you may not learn from no schooling.
Many places go to external sources for images. Depends what you want to do. I would fun really small newspapers and ask if they have contribution photographers that are not hired direct by them.
Here are a few ideas from boring to semi-interesting;
Auto Trader
Bargain News
Photo Labs
Newspaper Contributor
Celeb magazines
Art Shows
Photography displays at libraries
Studio Help
Intern at a news station or camera person assistant.
Sears,walmart etc portrait studios
All these places should not be a factor of age. You didn’t state your facet so I wasn’t sure what area to talk of.
You might could work at the front desk of a photography studio. To be a photographer, you have to have a degree/be certified……no one will hire you to take photos without any good experience. Go to college (even a 2yr community college) and get a degree……
no but you could work in a photo lab start to understand developing photos and the latest digital technology. it would be an investment in your future.
You really need to take college classes in photography to be a professional photographer and you will need to have a portfolio. Keep taking pictures and when you get to college take some classes and learn more about it.
Finding a paying job as the principle photographer might be difficult, however you might could find work as an assistant for a wedding photog. It would be great experience and the person might even allow you to second shoot for him/her if you show dedication to the craft.
Also, how about working on your high school yearbook staff as a photographer? I know that is not a paying gig but it is great experience and a good way to get known in your area.
you could try working for a photographer, ask them if they would like to teach an apprentice (it is best to take the humble approach) and then you could really learn more than you imagined, and by the age of 19 or 20 have enough knowledge and skill to be a journeyman…schooling is important, (accreditation means everything anymore, it is difficult to get gigs without college, no matter how good you are, so continue school, and go to college, even thought there are alot of BFAs around in mundain jobs that are not artist oriented at all)
if photography is you passion, you will do whatever is necessary to make it happen and it will happen.
You could work as a photographer’s assistant (subject poser) for a school photography company (except that that occurs during school hours; i hope you are still in school).
Or, you could work at a one-hr printing lab. Not really photography, but printing and you could learn a lot about digital cameras.
Go to the local sears, target, wal-mart, and apply at the studio in store to become an assistant. Or, volunteer at a studio. practice as much as you can; arrive to an interview with a portfolio or your prints, showing your lighting techniques, composition, contrast, depth of field, etc.
