How does a photographer get in to test with a modeling agency?

I know some models get to test with the senior photographer on the staff (of the agency) but what about everyone else? How do photographers get in to work with an agency or how are they able to test with models that belong to an agency (with out having to fork over the money to work with a professional model)

First thing to do is get your own portfilio. Start the pages with black and whites and finish with color.
Take overhead shots and side shots and only put your best photos in. Just to remind you that I see many people come to the agency and you don’t have to necessarily put your best food forward.
When i interview, and you are the person in the portfolio, I will just skim through it.
I mean, I have the real thing in front of me and can decide right there and then.
Apply with your portfolio to different places. If you have good ideas, good creatiity, and good composition, that is all you need.
By making a portfolios and distributing everywhere. Try looking in the web for websites, you will probably find they’re conditions there. Otherwise, burning your heels in the streets. You will probably need to mak an appointment. Good Luck.
Hi! So, here is a link to a website.
http://www.modelmayhem.com/castingcalls.php
It’s an amazing place where you can get in touch with models and hair stylists and make-up artists and wardrobe artists who also want to build their portfolio. Some people do charge, but most are in it for a trade. The models get the photo’s as well as hair, make-up and wardrobe. And you get everything else too! it’s wonderful. I myself have found it to be an amazing site and you can find a lot of good people on there. I hope this helps.
1. You get to work with an agency by putting together a relevant portfolio and hustling your butt off.
2. Some models will work with a photographer on a pictures for time arrangement and almost all wannabe’s will. Experienced pros generally won’t touch an amateur, or someone just starting out.
Another person suggested Model Mayhem which is a great site. Another great site is OneModelPlace.com
Between these two sites you should be able to find plenty of models to work with.
As for shooting with an agency – routing your portfolio around is the way to go. Just be careful who you work for. Alot of the modeling schools and other scammers will pick up photographers to shoot their students. Getting in with this crowd will give you a reputation you probably don’t want if you plan to be in the business for awhile.
