How am i able to get into photography. I am a teenager, so i dont have much money. Please help me asap.?

I have a local Tafe near me, though im no sure if they would do photography cources for 13 yr olds. I dont have any clue how to get into it. I have taken a few shots of my baby sister, which people think are really great, and since that, i have been inspired to get right into it. I dont know either, what to take photos of, the garden?? People? I dont know. I live on a farm so its all just wide open spaces. If you have any hints please help me. Also if you know how i can get into it as i am really eager too. ASAP!

Well you need a camera. If you don’t have one in the house, digital cameras are getting cheaper and better all the time. You can get a pretty good one (basic, but good quality) for <$200. If you don’t have much money this will be the stumbling block, but the price is very reasonable these days.
If you chose -digital-, you’re in luck. You can download GIMP, a great photo-editing program, for free. There are tutorials on the site too. Much of digital photography is done in the computer. If you have a computer already, be glad because that part costs more than the camera! And the skills you learn in GIMP can later be transferred to Photoshop or whatever other program you use.

As for subject matter, you can take interesting pictures of just about anything. It’s just a trick of finding what in your environment looks interesting. Farm people visiting the city take a lot of pictures, but so do city people visiting the farm! There are good pictures to be taken in both places, you just have to look at things in a new way.
Is there any photograpy classes in your area that you could sign up for? If not, then a photography or art class at school that does photography would be cool. You could always make projects of your own, taking pictures of different things. Perhaps start a scrapbook with all of your work to show to people. If theres any colleges near you, colleges nearly always will have photography classes. Maybe just call down there and tell them that you are only 13 but that you have an aspiration to do photography, and see if theres a way that you could take classes there…this is assuming that your parents are ok with it. Do good in school now so that you can get a scholarship or grants for when you do get to college full time. If this is your dream, go for it! Good luck to you!
Don’t get into the habit of taking "safe" photos: photos of flowers, sunsets, babies, etc… We have all seen those photos. Day after day you have people posting their photos of sunsets and flowers, and to be honest it is all a blur. You have the unique opportunity of living on a farm. Not many of us live on farms, perhaps it is boring old stuff to you, but for us who live in cities, it is all quite exciting and interesting. Think of your photos like a visual diary, photograph that which you would write in your diary, that is if you have one. A photo isn’t just about making pretty pictures that you can hang in your bathroom, good photos have something to say, something more personal.
as a fellow teenager who now makes a living out of photography, it is important to first learn the prior information about photography. it is stupid for one to just buy an expensive DSLR( im guessing you would buy this type of camera) and not understand how to use it.
take photography classes at school, and learn all styles of photography. the only way to know what you enjoy shooting is by actually trying out each style. also invest your time and money into buying a starter camera. i would suggest either the canon rebel xt or nikon d40. both are equally the same in performance, its just up to you whether you want to become a canonite or nikonian. remember this rule for lenses, you get what you pay for, meaning the cheaper the lense, the worse your quality of pictures will be. hope this helps!
Save up some money, about $250.00, to buy a decent digital camera and use that to take as many pics as you want. You live on a farm, that is the perfect place to take pics of animals and crops in weird lighting and all that. Just go with your natural instincts of what may make a great picture, you seem to have a talent for it so take advantage of it.
