do you have to get a professional photographer for starting a modeling portfolio?

I want to start out in modeling next year and i was wondering, do you have to get a professional photographer to take photos for your portfolio? i have noticed that famous top models e.g. tyra banks, have just had their family and friends take photos of them. so can i do it that way? Also, if i get signed, will there be any fees e.g. ME paying them for photos or cards? Thanks.

yes you can as long as it’s a really good pix that show case all your self image. you know, all the shot require in a portfolio. no, i don’t think they make you pay for photos or cards, if they do that, they’re not lagit, just want to rip you off. like those scam agency.
As long as the photos are quality, it really shouldn’t matter.
Nope if you have the skilled you can be a professional photographer.
