I’m thinking about going to college for Photography as my major. Is it worth it, or maybe I’ll be better off taking some classes and learning on my own?

depends on how much you want it.
if you want to be a professional photographer, go for it.
dont let doubts get in the way.
however i do suggest that you try to take a few week online course to see if you have what it takes to make it as a career
I’m not qualified to answer this question.
However I think I can say that it isn’t a career to take on in the expectation of earning a good living. It’s competitive.
On the other hand, if you are passionate about photography, not only will you do better at it, but you will be doing something that you love.
In a college you will be given assignments and challenges. You will receive criticism and guidance. You might be able to get this on you own be it might be even more expensive than the college course. Plus if you are in a college program you will also be taking other courses in design and composition. I would definitely go the college path. you will also very likely be meeting people that will be helping you in one way or another for the rest of your life.
I believe that this is a one-time opportunity. You can opt to take classes later on if you wish, but this opportunity you won’t have again. If I were you I would consider going for it.
In case you are really determined to take photography classes so I advise you to look on Google for reference websites (there is one example on my source box). there are many others for you to surf through.
Wish you good luck!
